As CEO, she promotes the vital contribution made by the members’ trusted journalism to society and democracy and seeks to influence the provision of a fair and balanced legislative framework that supports public services journalism and brings Ireland into line with other EU countries. Most recently, she successfully lobbied for the abolition of VAT on print and digital newspapers in Budget 2023.
She is a UCD graduate in Psychology and holds a Diploma in Counselling from Maynooth University. She has over twenty-five years’ experience in media and communications, working in the UK, South Africa and Ireland. She is a member of the supervisory board of the World Association of News Publishers; and the boards of Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland and of News Media Europe, the voice of the progressive news media industry in Europe, as well as serving on News Media Europe’s copyright and media freedom task forces.
